Youth Mental Health Takes the Stage
Dr. Charlie Shaffer and Demi Lovato
On June 4, NewYork-Presbyterian hosted an annual fundraising gala in support of The Center for Youth Mental Health (CYMH), which is dedicated to addressing the epidemic of anxiety and depression among young people.
The event, co-hosted by NewYork-Presbyterian President and CEO Dr. Steven J. Corwin, designer Tory Burch, biotechnology executive Dr. Zandy Forbes, and Vogue editor Anna Wintour, featured an in-depth conversation between singer Demi Lovato and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center psychiatrist Dr. Charlie Shaffer about her personal mental health struggles and the benefits of treatment.
The Center brings together doctors from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and Weill Cornell Medicine to specialize in research and treatment programs that give young people the care they need.
Supported by philanthropy, the CYMH utilizes the clinical and research faculty at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC)/Herbert Pardes Building of the New York State Psychiatric Institute, Weill Cornell Medical Center, and NewYork-Presbyterian, to publish and advance innovative and impactful educational resources and information to patients and their families as well as fellow healthcare professionals and educators.
