Surgery Residency Program

Rotation Schedule

PGY-I

  • Team A: three to four months of general surgery, including head and neck, pediatric, reconstructive and bariatric surgery.
  • Team B: three to four months of general surgery, including thoracic surgery and vascular surgery.
  • Team C: three to four months of general surgery, including trauma.
  • Vacation: one month.

PGY-II

  • Team A:  four to six weeks of general surgery, including head and neck, pediatric, reconstructive and bariatric surgery.
  • Team B: four to six weeks of general surgery, including thoracic surgery and vascular surgery.
  • Team C: four to six weeks of general surgery, including trauma.
  • Surgical Critical Care: six months.
  • Vacation: one month.

PGY-III

  • Team A: three months of general surgery, including head and neck, pediatric, reconstructive and bariatric surgery.
  • Team B:  two months of general surgery, including thoracic and vascular surgery.
  • Team C: two and a half months of general surgery, including trauma, endoscopy, vascular laboratory and radiology.
  • Transplantation: one month at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
  • Vacation: one month.

PGY-IV

  • Team A: three and a half months of general surgery, including head and neck, pediatric, reconstructive and bariatric surgery.
  • Team B: three and a half months general surgery, including thoracic and vascular surgery.
  • Team C: four months of general surgery including trauma.
  • Vacation: one month.

PGY-V

  • Team A: three months and three weeks of general surgery, including head and neck, pediatric, reconstructive and bariatric surgery.
  • Team B: three months and three weeks of general surgery, including thoracic surgery and vascular surgery.
  • Team C:  three months and three weeks of general surgery including trauma.
  • Vacation: one month.
