One Building, One Big Promise for Children
The One in Westchester is changing the face of care in the region.
Every Year, NYP’s Commitment to Expanding the Communities It Serves Grows —in Westchester, Connecticut, Rockland County, Northern New Jersey, and beyond.
And behind every bold new investment is a single driving purpose: to give patients and families the very best. That’s the vision behind The One, NYP’s extraordinary new ambulatory campus in White Plains, named both for its address at 1111 Westchester Avenue and for what it represents: a first-of-its-kind destination for care that combines the expertise of doctors from Columbia with the comfort and accessibility of a neighborhood center.
Since it opened in September 2025, The One has been home to an ambitious new hub for children’s health, reshaping how care is delivered for children. For Dr. Ali Mencin, Division Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at NYP Westchester, this work is deeply personal. “I’ve been here ever since my fellowship because it’s truly the best place to practice pediatric healthcare in the region,” he says. “You’re surrounded by people who are equally committed to excellence in every part of our mission, whether that’s delivering outstanding clinical care, training the next generation of physicians, or advancing research.”
Dr. Mencin, who is the Director of the Children’s Center of Excellence at The One, has a passion for pediatrics. “There’s something uniquely rewarding about helping a child who has their whole life ahead of them,” he says.
That passion is at the heart of the pediatric program at The One, which has been generously supported by NYP Trustee Al Kelly and his wife, Peggy. This center of excellence brings together 18 different pediatric subspecialties under one roof, with more than 46 dedicated pediatric providers.
The One’s impact on the experiences of patients and families is profound. A sunlight-drenched children’s play area, gifted by donors Toby Milstein-Schulman, Judah Schulman, and Rachel and Joshua Milstein, makes doctor appointments a source of joy, not apprehension, for little ones. Children can see multiple specialists in one visit, have tests or procedures done the same day, and head home with a plan. “It’s a game changer,” Dr. Mencin says. “We’re providing the same high-quality, top-ranked children’s services you’d find in Manhattan but now right in Westchester, directly on families’ doorsteps.”
