Biography

Dr. Ryan S. Sultan is a teaching and research physician at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Prior to this, he completed his training as a physician at Emory School of Medicine and New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical College and Columbia University. Dr. Sultan is an expert in the areas of Depression, ADHD, Anxiety, diagnostic evaluations and treatments for youth and adults.

Dr. Sultan’s primary role is as clinical researcher in the areas of Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Depression and ADHD at the Columbia University Medical Center and the New York Psychiatric Institute. His research focuses on the interface of electronic databases, epidemiology, and evidence-based treatments with common psychiatric disorders. Dr. Sultan works closely with Dr. Mark Olfson and is currently investigating the use of atypical antipsychotics in ADHD through a pilot grant from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. His past research on psychopharmacology trends in youth as well as clozapine and agranulocytosis has been presented both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Sultan remains involved in medical education through the supervision and mentorship of psychiatry residents at Columbia and New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Sultan also maintains a private practice in downtown Manhattan providing individualized evaluation and ongoing treatment for adults, youths and families. He specializes in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology for individuals with ADHD, Anxiety and Depression.
