Sexual Health MMU

Who We Are

The Sexual Health Medical Unit (MMU) is a full-service, ADA compliant HIV and Sexual Health mobile medical unit. The MMU provides gender-affirming, LGBTQI, and trauma-informed care with a focus on addressing HIV and sexual health disparities in Brooklyn, Queens, Harlem, and Washington Heights. The MMU will bring HIV screening, prevention, treatment as well as additional sexual health services directly to community members at-risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV or HCV infection, who are lost to care, and/or have significant barriers to engaging in care in traditional medical settings. The MMU will employ a full-time staff who will work with local community-based organizations (CBOs), NYP community and population health programs, and NYC care delivery systems to provide additional targeted outreach.

Mission Statement

NYP’s Sexual Health MMU will help ensure that New York-Presbyterian vigorously supports New York City’s End the HIV Epidemic (ETE) initiative. The Sexual Health MMU will provide inclusive, gender affirming, compassionate, and accessible health care services to all New Yorkers in need while focusing upon individuals who are at risk for HIV, perhaps unaware of their HIV status, or who are living with HIV but have fallen out of care. The Sexual Health MMU will additionally provide HIV and sexual health prevention and educational services, testing and treatment, and additional resources to help address potential complicating social determinants of health.

Program Vision

The MMU will bring accessible and affordable health care services to New York’s diverse communities, to improve sexual health and HIV outcomes. We will create safe and inclusive spaces for all New Yorkers, with a focus on communities and individuals who currently face access barriers to HIV and sexual health services.
