Designated Institution Official (DIO)

Dr. Cynthia X. Pan is the Designated Institution Official (DIO) of Graduate Medical Education (GME) at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital. Dr. Pan also serves as the Division Chief of Geriatrics & Palliative Care Medicine and is an Associate Professor in Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College.

  • Dr. Pan received her medical degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine
  • She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York
  • She completed her Geriatrics Fellowship at Harvard Medical School in addition to her Clinical Effectiveness Program at Harvard School of Public Health
  • She is boarded in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine
  • She is a master clinician educator and is dedicated to creating programs focused on high quality and patient safety
  • Dr. Pan has a strong passion for diversity, interprofessional learning, ethics and research
  • She has served on national organizations including past chair of the Ethnogeriatrics Committee at the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) and on the International Council of the American College of Physicians (ACP)
  • She currently serves on the Board of Directors at the Chinese American Medical Society (CAMS)
  • Dr. Pan has contributed her leadership and expertise on multiple NYP Queens committees including Ethics, GME, CME, Falls, Epic Palliative Care, Physician-Patient Communication, Patient and Family Advisory Council, DSRIP Palliative Care, and multiple patient safety/quality improvement initiatives
