Patient Experience & Quality Assurance

Ensuring a High-Quality Patient Experience

At NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, we ensure your child receives the most compassionate, highest quality, and safest care. As the number of doctors on our team and the number of patients coming through our doors grow, we continually train our staff on ways to ensure your child's and your family's experience is the best it can be.

Training to Provide Excellent Service

All of the staff in our Pediatric Inpatient Unit and the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit are specially trained to ensure a high-quality experience during your child's hospital stay. Our goal is to enhance communication between healthcare staff and patients. From the moment he or she walks through our doors, our warm and caring staff will put your child at ease. Our staff will take the time to introduce themselves, and you'll learn each of their roles in caring for your child. As much as we can, we explain the duration of each test, procedure, visit, or hospital stay. We will describe what you can expect, answer any questions you may have, and let you know how to contact us if you need something.

A Commitment to Continuous Improvement

Our Pediatric Quality Committee reviews the quality of care provided to all pediatric patients and identifies ways in which we can improve our practice. Examples of these reviews include ensuring that all imaging and other tests ordered are necessary and improving the efficiency with which medications are given to a patient after being ordered. Our department also sends representatives to the NewYork-Presbyterian Queens’ Quality Council, which meets monthly to address quality and patient safety goals.
