The Center for Autism and the Developing Brain provides service coordination to families pursuing Early Intervention services. The following steps should be followed in order to help the process run as smoothly as possible:
- Prior to contacting CADB, families must first contact the designated Early Intervention Official (EIO) in their county.
- Following a determination by the EIO regarding eligibility to pursue EI services, families will be instructed to contact our Service Coordinator and begin the process.
- Our EI Service Coordinator will help families coordinate evaluations; offer several options for sources of services which may include the NewYork-Presbyterian program but may also include other community services; develop an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP); and arrange for the delivery of eligible services.
Once services have been initiated our service coordinator will continue to work with the family to ensure the IFSP is being implemented or make changes to the plan when appropriate. In addition, the service coordinator works with the family to ensure a smooth transition from Early Intervention into CPSE (Committee on Preschool Special Education).
