Dr. Ali Andre Mencin is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and a general pediatric gastroenterologist recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor as well as a New York Super Doctor. In addition to seeing children with a range of digestive diseases, his primary clinical interests are pediatric fatty liver disease and pediatric endoscopy.

Dr. Mencin is a member of the Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis Clinical Research Network sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease. He is the Director of the Pediatric Fatty Liver Clinic at Columbia University Medical Center and actively recruits patients suffering from this disease for observational and treatment studies. As a recognized expert in pediatric fatty liver, he has published extensively in this area.

Furthermore, Dr. Mencin is a skilled endoscopist as well as capsule endoscopist who serves as the Director of Pediatric Endoscopy at Columbia. He follows patient populations that require frequent endoscopies including those with polyposis syndromes, inflammatory bowel disease, and eosinophilic esophagitis. He has a particular interest in gastrojejunostomy tube (GJT) placements in children with severe reflux and has published on his GJT placement technique. Dr. Mencin is currently a member of the Endoscopy Committee for the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition.
