NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital has once again been recognized as one of “America’s Best Employers” by Forbes magazine for 2018, one of the few healthcare organizations in New York to rank on the prestigious annual list.

“We deeply value our employees and are dedicated to our staff who go above and beyond every day to provide the best care possible to our patients,” said Dr. Steven J. Corwin, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian. “We are honored to be recognized by Forbes as one of the leading employers in America, a testament to our efforts to build a culture of respect for all of our employees.”

“As a hospital and employer, we are dedicated to doing everything we can for our patients and staff; we understand the care we demonstrate for our staff helps them be incredible caregivers,” said Dr. Laura Forese, executive vice president and COO of NewYork-Presbyterian. “We strive to create a culture of respect, and we honor each employee’s contribution to patient care.”

This year’s rankings were determined by a survey of 30,000 American workers, employed by businesses with at least 1,000 employees by the research firm Statista. The workers completed a survey with questions about their workplace and benefits. The most important metric was how likely employees were to recommend their organization to others, but the firm also looked at benefits offered, workplace diversity, career advancement opportunities and recognition of performance.

“We work every day to make this institution a place where our employees feel valued, inspired and engaged as they deliver exceptional patient care,” said Shaun Smith, senior vice president and chief human resources officer of NewYork-Presbyterian. “We are proud to foster an outstanding workplace and culture for our employees, and grateful to our talented and committed staff for their service to our patients.”

The ranking is divided into two lists: one for the top large companies with more than 5,000 U.S. employees, and another for the top midsize companies with 1,000 to 5,000. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital ranked among the nation’s large employers.
