Eight NewYork-Presbyterian leaders have been named to the Crain’s New York Business 2019 list of “Notable Women in Health Care,” the publication’s annual list recognizing healthcare executives, researchers and clinicians who have profoundly impacted New York City through their professional, civic and philanthropic achievements.

“We are proud that Crain’s has recognized these exceptional leaders across disciplines for their extraordinary contributions to our patients, staff and the communities we serve,” said Dr. Steven J. Corwin, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian. “We applaud their accomplishments, vision, and leadership and their commitment to providing the highest quality care and best possible patient experience every day.”

Crain’s recognized the following NewYork-Presbyterian leaders: Mary Beth Claus, group senior vice president, chief legal officer and general counsel at NewYork-Presbyterian; Shauna Coyne, director of innovation at NewYork-Presbyterian; Dr. Silvia Formenti, radiation oncologist-in-chief of NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology and associate director of radiation oncology at the Sandra and Edward Meyer Cancer Center at Weill Cornell Medicine; Dr. Katherine L. Crain’s also recently recognized Dr. Laura Forese, executive vice president and chief operating officer of NewYork-Presbyterian, as one of the “2019 Most Powerful Women in New York,” ranking her No. 9 on the list. Under Dr. Forese’s leadership, NewYork-Presbyterian has launched a number of groundbreaking initiatives to strengthen the Hospital’s clinical leadership.

The list of “Notable Women in Health Care” highlights the careers of 100 female health care leaders in New York City.

Nominations for the list came from a spectrum of healthcare organizations, from hospitals and nonprofits to medical colleges and healthcare groups in the New York City metropolitan area. The finalists were selected by a Crain’s editorial team, based on a combination of professional achievements, community service, track record of mentoring others, and promotion of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
