NewYork-Presbyterian is deploying a Disaster Response Team to Puerto Rico today to help provide much-needed medical care for residents still suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Our medical team includes four physicians and eight nurses with diverse areas of expertise.

The NewYork-Presbyterian team is working closely with experts from other area hospitals in an effort that is being carefully coordinated by the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) and the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS), under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, the State of New York, and the Puerto Rico Department of Health.

NewYork-Presbyterian has answered Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s call to assemble healthcare workers to help the people of Puerto Rico.

NewYork-Presbyterian has donated $1 million to New York Healthcare's Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Fund, and a trustee on the hospital’s board donated an additional $1 million.  Established by GNYHA and HANYS, the fund will assist hospitals, health care workers and their families in Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands affected by the recent hurricanes.  In addition, we have sent medical supplies and emergency items donated by our generous employees and patients at donation bins across our campuses.  We are deeply grateful to everyone who has reached out to help.

The entire NewYork-Presbyterian community is committed to helping those who are suffering and need relief.
