NEW YORK

Origins Natural Resources has pledged that the proceeds from the sale of its 100% Organic Nourishing oil for body and massage, up to $75,000, will be given to the Integrative Therapies Program for Children with Cancer at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian. The Program provides children with cancer and their families with an array of non-invasive methods including yoga, aromatherapy, massage, and herbal consultations to help improve their quality of life as they undergo chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.

"This generous commitment from Origins will help us build one of the first comprehensive integrative therapies clinic in the country specifically designed for children undergoing cancer treatment and survivors of childhood cancer. Services are provided at no cost to the patient and their family," says Elena Ladas, director of the Integrative Therapies Program at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian.

"Origins understands the importance of addressing wellness through an integrative approach," says Daria Myers, President of Origins Natural Resources. "With our recent Dr. Andrew Weil collaboration, Origins demonstrated its support for the integrative wellness concept. Now, with the introduction of the new Nourishing oil for body and massage, we hope to bring not only a moment of comfort but also a healthy future to children enduring the fight of their life."

Integrative therapies help facilitate healing in patients undergoing cancer therapy; decrease the severity and incidence of side effects; alleviate stress and anxiety surrounding cancer therapy; improve sleep patterns; and diminish fatigue.

"We hope the Integrative Therapies Program at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital will build a strong case for educating and extending therapies of this nature to oncology settings around the country," says Dr. Michael Weiner, director of Herbert Irving Division of Pediatric Oncology at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Columbia University College of Physician's and Surgeons.

Massage oil such as that offered by Origins has the potential to be used on the pediatric patients during their therapy.

Origins 100% Organic Nourishing oil is made with all organic ingredients that are earth-friendly. The ingredients, including such organic essential oils as Patchouli, Nutmeg, Vetiver and Chamomile, are harvested and processed in small batches to ensure that the original aroma and distinctive character remain pure. The organic body oil, designed to pamper, protect, and nourish the skin, is used during professional massage and for after-shower moisturizing.
