“Great pediatric care is so much more than check-ups and the treatment of debilitating illnesses – it involves recognizing the importance of the relationships in a child’s life and seeing the child in a personal and family context.

The care at Komansky Children's Hospital is patient- and family-centered.  That means we focus on each patient as an individual child with dreams and fears, strengths and weaknesses.

We see each little boy or girl in the midst of their family and recognize that our care and outcomes will be better when we involved the family in care…While our goal is maintaining wellness and working to overcome illness, it is also more than that.

We care for the whole patient, so that children’s fears are allayed during treatment – Child Life Services and our Family Advisory Council work diligently to achieve this – so that one day each of our patients might grow up to achieve their most ambitious goals."

Pediatrician-in-Chief, NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children's Hospital at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is one of the country’s leading centers for pediatric healthcare and the first and only children’s program in the world with the pediatric expertise of two Ivy League medical schools – Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. For nine years running, our Hospital has ranked in more pediatric specialties than any other New York area hospital in U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Children’s Hospital.”

The NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children's Hospital at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center was established in 2005 through a generous grant from Phyllis and David Komansky.

This full-service, multidisciplinary “children's hospital within a hospital” is dedicated to improving the health of infants, children, and adolescents through high quality and comprehensive programs in patient care, medical education, scientific research, and child and family advocacy.

Each year, thousands of children of all ages come to the NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children's Hospital for medical and surgical care provided by a highly skilled and compassionate team of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

We are grateful to Phyllis and David Komansky and the many devoted supporters of our Hospital’s pediatric programs, which depend on the generosity of our friends and partners.
