PGY2 Solid Organ Transplantation
The pharmacy residency in Solid Organ Transplantation is offered to candidates who desire to advance their knowledge and skills in solid organ transplant pharmacotherapy. This 12-month residency program builds on experiences gained in the PGY1 year and is designed to provide a well-rounded experience leading to the development of expert knowledge, skills, and clinical leadership in the practice of solid organ transplant pharmacy. Upon completion of the program the resident is expected to demonstrate competency in the area of solid organ transplant pharmacy practice, written and oral communication, and transplant research.
We offer a flexible program that focuses on the goals of each resident but is intended to provide a comprehensive clinical, research, and teaching experience.
Along with excellence in clinical care, NewYork-Presbyterian is committed to the ongoing progress of transplantation through rigorous scientific research. Additional learning experiences include the completion of a research project, a medication use evaluation, and learning to analyze data using statistical software. Residents also participate in activities of the Solid Organ Transplant Formulary and Therapeutics subcommittee. The resident will develop teaching skills by providing in-service presentations to pharmacy staff and other health care providers, precepting PGY1 residents and pharmacy students, leading case-based clinical discussions, and critically evaluating literature
