For the Future of
The Campaign for NewYork-Presbyterian

Yet many women don’t receive the high-quality medical care they need to pursue what matters most to them—whether that’s running a business, caring for a family, or following another passion. They face persistent healthcare disparities, including underdiagnosis or undertreatment of medical conditions and challenges accessing specialized healthcare services. At NewYork-Presbyterian, we are committed to addressing these inequities and improving women’s healthcare.
Our leading physicians, groundbreaking innovations, and unwavering health justice commitment—together with your support—can drive us toward the future of women’s health and help us realize our ambition: to provide more women with expert care tailored to their unique needs. From mental health treatment to menopausal management. From the birth of a new life to the end of a lifespan. For every woman of every identity, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status—across New York and beyond.
With your support, we can create women’s healthcare spaces that are as peaceful as they are leading-edge. We can expand and integrate our pioneering women’s health programs to strengthen our commitment to comprehensive and coordinated care for every patient. And we can advance innovative technologies to provide even better care to more women in each stage of their lives, enabling them to feel healthy and satisfied as they age.
Women with complex conditions require clinical expertise and seamless collaboration by physicians across disciplines. At NYP, we are able to deliver patient care that improves outcomes for women and their families, no matter their risk profile. Building our multidisciplinary programs is exciting and rewarding, and patients come to NYP because they know that our team has the experience to provide whatever level of care they need.”

Innovation isn’t only about uncovering causes and treatments for medical conditions—it also extends to creating entirely new models of care to improve access to medicine. NYP has the potential to reach many more women in marginalized communities who might otherwise go without essential care. That’s because we’re committed to ensuring that the care we provide in our patients’ neighborhoods is as excellent as the care we offer at Columbia and Weill Cornell. We want to spread our talent across the communities we serve.”

Ahkianne
Ahkianne Wanliss knew something felt off when she felt pressure in her abdomen during the day and lower back pain at night. But the symptoms came and went, so she didn’t think it was anything too serious.
Dr. Lewis knew exactly what I was talking about and reassured me that this could be handled swiftly and I’ll go back to feeling myself again.”

Lourdes
Lourdes Mosquera and her family emigrated from Lima, Peru, in 1980 in search of specialized medical care for her young daughter, who’d been badly burned in an accident back home. Despite intending to return to Peru, Mosquera and her family stayed in the United States and put down roots in New Jersey, and she and her husband became a hardworking housekeeping team.
Dr. Rao really changed my life,” she says. “For any woman that I meet, I say, ‘Continue doing your mammograms, but if you need it, get care immediately and go to Dr. Rao.’”

“At NYP, we help patients face pregnancy with hope instead of fear,” says Dr. Mirella Mourad, Co-Director of the Preterm Birth Prevention Center and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia.
Few things better represent that commitment than the Mothers Center at the Sloane Hospital for Women at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia. Opened in 2018, the Mothers Center provides access to all the care patients with high-risk pregnancies need—everything from Maternal-Fetal Medicine experts to specialists in cardiology, surgery, endocrinology, neurology, and mental health—all in a single location that minimizes travel and visits to multiple doctors’ offices while facilitating collaboration among physicians.
The result is life-changing—and just one example of the type of care we intend to bring to women everywhere in the future.
Women come to us knowing they are high-risk; they’re willing to do whatever it takes to grow their families. Seeing them today with children—it’s amazing.”
