Benefit Choices

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP) offers a competitive employee benefit package. The core program includes Medical with Rx and Vision care, Dental, Life Insurance, Short and Long-Term Disability, Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage and Supplemental Life Insurance products. Additionally, there are comprehensive Financial Planning and Group Legal plans.

Enrollment in all of these plans is limited to new hires, employees who have a qualifying life event (marriage, birth of child, loss of coverage, etc.) during the year, and for all employees during the annual benefits enrollment period.

Medical Plans

You have the choice of either the Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield EPO (all services in-network) or POS (out-of-network services allowed) plans. Enrollment in the EPO or POS Medical plan includes Rx and Vision coverage. Refer to the medical chart in Workday for features of each plan.

Dental Plans

We offer a choice of three (3) dental plans: Aetna PPO, Aetna DMO & Columbia Dental. See Workday for more information.

Life Insurance Plans

  • NYP provides employees with hospital-paid life insurance.
  • Supplemental Life Insurance
    As a complement to the 100% Hospital-paid Life Insurance, you can purchase additional coverage of 1X to 5X annual base salary*. Evidence of insurability is required for the 4X and 5X levels.
    *For the purpose of life insurance, if you are 65 as of January 1st, the amount of your coverage is reduced to 65% of the life insurance amount you had prior to age 65. At age 70, the amount of coverage is reduced to 65% of the amount of coverage you had at age 69.
  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance
    This coverage provides you with benefits if your injury results in accidental death or dismemberment.
  • Spouse Life Insurance
    This plan provides you with the ability to insure your legally married spouse. If both you and your spouse are benefit-eligible employees of NYP, neither of you are eligible to enroll for Spouse Life Insurance. Spouse Life Insurance coverage amount cannot exceed the employee's annual base salary.
  • Child Life Insurance
    This plan provides you with the ability to insure your unmarried dependent child(ren). If both parents are benefit-eligible employees of NYP, dependent child(ren) can only be insured by one parent. Long-Term Disability (LTD)

Long-Term Disability Insurance provides you with benefit payments after you have been disabled for 180 consecutive days. Refer to LTD summaries for more information:

Hyatt Legal Plan

In addition to services such as family law, immigration law and real estate matters, the Hyatt Legal Plan can assist you with concerns such as debt collection defense, estate planning and traffic and criminal matters.
