Brooklyn, New York

NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital was honored for its stroke program at this year’s American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) 2017 International Stroke Conference in Houston, Texas. The AHA/ASA recognizes hospitals that comply with its Get with the Guidelines quality measures, and NYP Brooklyn Methodist was given the Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award as well as a difficult-to-obtain spot on the Target: Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll.

“This recognition is a testament to the continued excellence, dedication, and multidisciplinary collaboration at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist to provide the best evidence-based stroke care to our patients,” said Dr. Cheng. “We are honored to receive this recognition and plan to continue expanding our services to the Brooklyn community.”

NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist is a New York State certified Stroke Center. The Hospital's Emergency Department is fully equipped to diagnose strokes quickly, and offers rapid evaluation of stroke patients and the advanced treatments—including both medication and highly sophisticated neuroradiology procedures that may reverse the damage caused by a stroke. The Hospital also has a discharge program for patients who experience stroke, aimed at reducing the number of readmissions due to stroke complications. The program uses medical, social work and physical therapy services, to ensure that patients who have experienced stroke are safe and healthy.
