Internal Medicine Residency Program

Typical Rotation Schedule

During each year of training, the house officer assumes more and more responsibility for direct patient care.

PGY 1

  • General Medical rotations: 9 Months
  • Ambulatory Medicine: 1 Month
  • Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center: 1 Month
  • 1 month vacation

PGY 2

  • General Medical rotations: 3 Months
  • Ambulatory Medicine: 2 Months
  • Elective: 1 Month
  • Critical Care Units: 5 Months, divided among the ICU, Pulmonary StepDown and CCU.
  • 1 month vacation

PG 3

(Supervision, Resident Teaching, Service Consultation)

  • General Medicine rotations: 3 Months
  • Ambulatory Medicine: 2 Months
  • Emergency Medicine Department: 1 Month
  • Electives: 3 Months
  • Critical Care Unit: 2 Months
  • 1 month vacation
