The Child Life Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital provides emotional and psycho-social support to children and families and promotes coping with visits to the emergency room, inpatient hospitalization and illness. Our certified child life specialist works with each child's medical team to advocate for the needs of the entire family, including siblings. With a strong educational background in child development, child life specialists assess each child and work to minimize the anxiety and stress of illness and medical procedures.
NYP Brooklyn Methodist's Child Life Program greatly appreciates donations to support the services we provide to minimize stress and trauma for children and families in the Hospital. Funds will be used to:
- Supply therapeutic and affirming toys for our inpatient and outpatient pediatric clinic areas.
- Possible additional supplies to potentially increase playroom hours, activities, and scope of the program so we can serve more children and families.
Monetary donations have the greatest impact allowing us to use the funds for what this program needs the most. Donations of toys from our Amazon Wish List are also accepted and will be used with children in our emergency room, inpatient playroom, during inpatient bedside activities and for special events or occasions.
