At NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital, we offer a full range of obstetric and gynecologic services, caring for more than 2,200 women each year before, during, and after childbirth. We are enhancing our services and updating our facilities to provide you with a comprehensive, family-centered approach to care—from the moment you enter the Labor and Delivery Suite until you leave with your baby. Gynecologic Care
We offer treatment for a full range of gynecologic conditions to women in our community. We employ minimally invasive techniques whenever possible—such as hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation, and laparoscopy—to manage conditions such as uterine fibroids, abnormal bleeding, ovarian cysts, and non-cancerous pelvic conditions.
Gynecologic and Obstetric Imaging
Dedicated state-of-the-art gynecologic ultrasound services are available to evaluate early pregnancies, gynecologic conditions, and pelvic pain. We also use an imaging technique called "saline-infusion sonohysterograms" to visualize the inside of the uterus.
Superior Prenatal Care and Education
Prenatal care can be provided by your own physician, at Columbia Doctors Riverdale, or at one of five clinics in the NewYork-Presbyterian Ambulatory Care Network. We also offer prenatal classes to provide information and education about childbirth, breastfeeding, and child care.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists Onsite
Women needing advanced care for complex pregnancies can receive high-tech services from maternal-fetal medicine specialists at Allen Hospital. These are the same specialists on the maternal-fetal medicine team at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital and they rotate between the two hospitals. We offer a range of services, from routine screening tests to advanced maternal and fetal diagnostic tools and antepartum monitoring, all in an accessible location. Our team supports you and your baby during and after the journey of pregnancy.
Care in the Community
As part of our commitment to serving the local community, we offer obstetric and gynecologic care at five neighborhood Ambulatory Care Network practices in addition to our main hospital. At these convenient neighborhood clinics, we offer services such as routine physical examinations, health screenings, family planning counseling, health education, and management of uncomplicated pregnancies. Certified nurse-midwives and obstetricians work together to provide prenatal services.
Special Guidance for Young Mothers
Through the Ambulatory Care Network, we offer a special program called Centering in Pregnancy, available at the Broadway Practice Site and the Washington Heights Family Health Center. With this program, we deliver prenatal care and education to a group of eight to 12 women—typically young mothers-to-be having their first or second child. Each group meets for a total of ten two-hour sessions throughout pregnancy and during the early period after the child's birth. The goal of this unique model of care is to empower women to choose healthy behaviors.

All Obstetrics and Gynecology physicians at Allen Hospital are either board-certified or board-eligible and are also on the staff of NewYork-Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center, one of the country's major medical centers.
