CHALK in the Community

Live Your Life/ Vive tu Vida campaign

¡Vive tu Vida! Live your Life! Our message was created by the community, for the community. The message was first created in Spanish to reflect the dominant language of our community. CHALK's Community Task Force helped to educate and mobilize other community members to live their lives with "Energy, Balance and Action."

CHALK partners with community members to help recruit businesses and organizations to sign a pledge to join our campaign and promote at least 1 of our 10 Healthy Habits. These campaign members then create programs or services, or distribute information to spread our message of healthy living.

To download your Live Your Life/Vive tu Vida passport or other material from CHALK, please visit our Resources page.

CHALK believes that changes in the environment help to develop and support the 10 Healthy Habits. CHALK has partnered to bring healthy food to Upper Manhattan with the Fort Washington Greenmarket. In addition, during market hours CHALK disseminates the 10 Healthy Habits through various nutrition education activities.

CHALK provides workshops to support other organizations and programs in adopting and implementing the 10 Healthy Habits. To request a training, please contact:

Every year CHALK offers community based organizations and initiatives that support healthy lifestyles for families in Washington Heights/Inwood the opportunity for to apply for a CHALK mini grant. These community based grants are awarded to fund either new or ongoing initiatives that increase access to and knowledge about healthy foods and eating habits, and/or physical activity. Proposals should have the potential to be sustainable after grant funding and/or identify a plan for continuation beyond the grant funding.

To apply, download the Minigrant Application.
