Awards and Recognition

The success of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is evidenced by its recognition by national publications and other groups who rank the country's top doctors and healthcare facilities.

America's Best Hospitals

Each year, U.S. News & World Report™ evaluates thousands of hospitals located throughout America. This study is widely considered one of the nation's most thorough and reliable measures of medical quality.

U.S News Best Hospitals Honor Roll

For 2018, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital again earned the top spot among all hospitals in New York state and the New York metro region. NewYork-Presbyterian also ranks No. 10 on the Honor Roll, which recognizes national excellence in multiple specialties; and in the top five in four specialties: cardiology and heart surgery (No. 4), neurology/neurosurgery (No. 5), psychiatry (No. 3) and rheumatology (No. 3), a collaborative program with the Hospital for Special Surgery. Only 20 hospitals out of about 5,000 nationwide are included in the Honor Roll.

The Honor Roll places us in the company of some of the most prestigious, world-class medical institutions, including Johns Hopkins Hospital, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital. A member of the Honor Roll of America's Best for 18 consecutive years, this distinction is the most recent indication that NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital — and the care it provides — continues to be among the best in America.

New York Magazine's Best Doctors

More than 265 NewYork-Presbyterian physicians, representing 63 adult and pediatric specialties were included in New York magazine’s 2019 “Best Doctors” listing. For more than 20 years, New York magazine has published the “Best Doctors” listing, which is a select subset of the Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. “Top Doctors” series. Castle Connolly, a research and information firm, surveys medical professionals to identify exceptional providers in the area. The Top Doctors listing is a compilation of the top 10 percent of the region’s physicians – more than 74,00 clinicians.

America's Top Doctors

More than 250,000 leading doctors were asked to name the nation's best physicians in various specialties – those "to whom you would send members of your family."

The annual survey is conducted by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. and published in America's Top Doctors. In 2017, more physicians from NewYork-Presbyterian were named to America's Top Doctors than from any other hospital in the nation.

The most important criterion for physician selection was excellence in patient care. Other criteria included education, residency, board-certification, fellowships, professional reputation, hospital affiliation, medical school faculty appointment, experience and disciplinary history.

We congratulate all the physicians included in the guide and applaud their efforts to raise the standards of medicine even higher.
