The Spine Hospital provides comprehensive non-operative and advanced surgical care for adults with all types of spine disorders. Spine Hospital surgeons have special expertise in the treatment of complex spinal deformities, cervical (neck) spine disorders, stenosis, and herniated disks. Some patients benefit from a very advanced technique called vertebral column resection (VCR), in which one or more vertebrae around a spinal deformity are removed to release the spine. Young patients and their families come to The Spine Hospital at NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital from all over the country and the world to seek treatment for spine disorders, including complex surgical procedures. The Hospital is highly regarded as a leader in the research and treatment of early-onset scoliosis and provides family-centered care. For example, we offer the MAGEC device, which allows children to have their spines aligned without repeated surgeries to adjust implanted growing rods. We also offer casting, bracing, vertical expandable prosthetic titanium rib (VEPTR), growing rods, and spinal stapling for young people with scoliosis. Our pediatric orthopedic surgeons perform more children's spine surgery than any other center in New York, and are also committed to advancing research and clinical innovation. This hospital is also designated as Level 1 Regional Pediatric Trauma Program.
