Youth Anxiety Center

Research

Why do research?

Beyond treating anxious youth and their families, the Youth Anxiety Center is transforming our understanding of anxiety disorders. The Youth Anxiety Center has outstanding researchers at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Weill Cornell Medical College who work in the areas of clinical therapeutics, neuroimaging, and neuroscience relevant to anxiety disorders.

Our goal in doing research is to transform our understanding and treatment of pathological anxiety in youth and young adults.

To accomplish this, we aim to elucidate what causes pathological anxiety and how best to treat it across development. Our research focus includes the following:

  • Developing new treatments
  • Investigating how and for whom our treatments work
  • Uncovering causes of pathological anxiety
  • Identifying new treatment targets
