Weill Cornell Cancer Center

Prostate Cancers

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the U.S. and the second leading cause of cancer-related death. To create a personalized plan of care for each patient, at the Weill Cornell Cancer Center at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, we take a multidisciplinary approach to the care of men with all stages of prostate cancer—bringing together a team of

  • urologic surgeons
  • medical oncologists
  • radiation oncologists
  • pathologists
  • radiologists
  • oncology nurses
  • psychosocial support specialists
  • alternative medicine experts
  • other professionals

Team members meet regularly to discuss each patient's care and progress.

Weill Cornell physicians are also leading investigators in major clinical trials assessing new diagnostic, prevention, and treatment approaches aimed at improving the management of prostate cancer. Patients are offered access to clinical trials for which they may be candidates.

The team of prostate cancer specialists at Weill Cornell is committed to providing excellent care from the moment a patient comes through our doors. Patients who may need medical care for conditions in addition to prostate cancer have access to the world-renowned roster of physicians of NewYork-Presbyterian /Weill Cornell. Patients receiving specific therapy—for example, those recovering from prostate cancer surgery—have a defined group of physicians who expedite their comprehensive urologic recovery. In addition, a secure electronic medical record system ensures that all members of a patient's healthcare team have access to up-to-date information regarding the patient's care.
