The Burn Center

Operation Save a Life

Every year, the William Randolph Hearst Burn Center teams up with ABC TV to produce "Operation 7: Save a Life," a local half-hour special devoted to increasing public awareness on burn care, home and fire safety practices, and emergency preparation. The program provides a look inside the Burn Center showing how the latest medical advances are saving lives and improving recovery rates.

An introduction to the William Randolph Hearst Burn Center:

New York Firefighters Skin Bank: Burn survivor Stephen Haliday and Dr. Palmer Bessey talk about how donated skin saves lives. Also, Dr. Roger Yurt, answers questions on burn prevention and treating burn injuries.

Pediatric Burn Care: Children comprise 1/3 of burn injuries treated at the Burn Center, which provides specialized care tailored to their needs.

World Burn Congress: The Burn Center co-sponsors an annual congress where burn survivors meet to share their experiences.
