The Brain Tumor Centers at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital's Columbia University Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medical Center are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art, comprehensive care to patients with brain and spinal tumors. Among the busiest brain tumor programs in the nation, we treat hundreds of patients each year. Our highly experienced physicians – including neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, radiation oncologists, neuro-radiologists, neuro-pathologists, and other specialists – work closely together to provide integrated and compassionate care that is tailored to each patient's particular diagnosis and needs.

Our physicians use the most advanced technologies and techniques to treat both newly diagnosed and recurrent tumors, including minimally invasive surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. The team of specialists discusses and develops the most effective plan of care for each individual.

Jeffrey N. Bruce, M.D., Co-Director of the Brain Tumor Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, discusses how he solely treats brain tumors and how this specialization has helped his Center become a place where doctors refer their brain tumor cases.

As a leading academic medical center, we are at the forefront of brain tumor research. Our clinical activities are combined with vigorous research efforts, aimed at improving outcomes for patients with brain and spinal tumors. Our clinicians and laboratory investigators collaborate to better understand the growth and development of brain tumors and to ultimately develop new treatments. Patients with primary tumors, as well as those with metastatic disease (cancer that spreads to the brain or spine from other sites), have access to a wide range of clinical trials, including single and large multicenter studies assessing new anticancer agents and novel ways of administering therapy.

Consultation for the management of seizures and other neurological symptoms, pain management, neuro-ophthalmology, psychology/psychiatry, physical therapy/rehabilitation, social work, nutrition, palliative care, and general medical care is available to our patients. We also understand that the management of brain and spinal tumors has a major impact on the lives of patients and their families, and we offer psychosocial support services to assist during this difficult time.
