Clinical Services
NewYork-Presbyterian is one of the world's largest clinical and research institutions. Our physicians and staff provide clinical care in every specialty and sub-specialty of medicine. Additionally, our Hospital houses the most advanced clinical technologies available today.
All of our physicians are on the faculty of either Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons or Weill Cornell Medical College – both Ivy League Medical Schools. Through their academic appointments, they conduct innovative research in their respective fields of medicine.
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital has top-ranked services in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurology, Neurological Surgery, Digestive Diseases, Cancer (including prostate surgery) and Children's Health.
All of these services include both surgical and non-surgical treatment of medical conditions, with many of the surgical techniques being developed by our physicians becoming increasingly minimally-invasive.
Our neurosurgery program is one of the few places in the nation to use minimally-invasive endoscopic surgery and advanced imaging to remove brain tumors. In addition, our urological surgeons have advanced the nerve sparing aspects of minimally-invasive robotic prostate surgery to provide superior outcomes for our patients. Our cardiac physicians are leaders in cardiac surgery including percutaneous valve replacement. Our digestive disease services include laparoscopic colon resection surgery as well as the latest clinical advancements in the surgical treatment of diabetes.
Heart
Our Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Services are strong assets to our Hospital. We excel at bypass surgery; implanting devices such as defibrillators, pacemakers, and artificial heart devices (LVAD); valve repair and replacement; and thoracic aneurysm repair. We perform more heart transplants than any hospital in the nation. Stenting and catheter ablation for cardiac arrhythmias are also routinely performed procedures and areas of particular interest amongst many of our surgeons. Learn more about our cardiac services.
Neuroscience
Our Neurology and Neurosurgery Services have excelled at treating patients with tumors in the brain or spine and those afflicted with blockages or weak spots in the vessels of their brains (precursors to stroke and aneurysms). The services have also had tremendous success with the surgical and non-surgical treatment of movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, dystonia and multiple sclerosis, and memory disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.
