Certified and Accredited Ultrasound Service
American College of Radiology

NewYork-Presbyterian Queens was recognized as the borough’s only hospital to be named a “Breast Imaging Center of Excellence” by the American College of Radiology after a rigorous review process to ensure compliance with nationally accepted standards.

According to the ACR, a facility receives the distinction "Breast Imaging Center of Excellence” after it demonstrates excellence in breast imaging by successfully achieving accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. The Commission on Quality and Safety and the Commission on Breast Imaging performed the ACR review.

Board-certified physicians and medical physicists considered experts in the field determined that NewYork-Presbyterian Queens has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Labs

NYP Queens ultrasound service is accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories. The purpose of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) is to ensure high quality patient care and to promote health care by providing a mechanism to encourage and recognize the provision of quality noninvasive vascular diagnostic testing by a process of voluntary accreditation. Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess every aspect of daily operation and its impact on the quality of health care provided to patients. While completing the accreditation application, laboratories often identify and correct potential problems, revising protocols and validating quality assurance programs. Because accreditation is renewed every three years, a long-term commitment to quality and self-assessment is developed and maintained.
