Digital Urgent Care

Who will I see with NYP OnDemand Urgent Care?

If you would like to use Adult Urgent Care, you will see one of our Emergency Medicine doctors. If you would like to use Pediatric Urgent Care, you and your child will see one of our pediatric Emergency Medicine doctors.

All of our physicians are board certified, licensed and credentialed. NewYork-Presbyterian, one of the largest and most comprehensive hospitals in the nation, is ranked New York’s No. 1 hospital for the 16th consecutive year, and is No. 6 in the United States, according to the U.S. News and World Report annual survey of “Best Hospitals.”

When is it not appropriate to use this service?

NYP OnDemand Urgent Care is not for medical emergencies. If you are having a medical emergency, please proceed to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

This service is not appropriate for you if you have:

  • Chest pain or difficulty breathing
  • Severe heart palpitations
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • (Signs of) Heart attack (i.e.. chest pain lasting longer than two minutes)
  • (Signs of) Stroke (e.g. loss of vision, sudden numbness, weakness, slurred speech, or confusion)
  • Altered mental status or confusion
  • Sudden clumsiness, loss of balance or fainting
  • Sudden difficulty speaking, or trouble understanding speech
  • Falls that cause injury or occur while taking blood thinning medications
  • Sudden, severe headache
  • Sudden testicular pain and swelling
  • Sudden vision changes, including blurred or double vision and full or partial vision loss
  • Serious burns
  • Broken bones
  • Convulsions, seizures or loss of consciousness
  • Heavy, uncontrollable bleeding
  • Deep knife wounds
  • gunshot wounds
  • Poisoning
  • Serious head, neck or back injury
  • Pregnancy-related problems
  • Suicidal or homicidal feelings

I would like to use NYP OnDemand Urgent Care. How can I get started?

Below are the steps to have a Digital Urgent Care visit through our website:

  1. Click the “Log in / Create an Account” button, and create an account with NYP OnDemand Urgent Care. Please use the name that you use with your other medical professionals. You will be able to sign in with this account after your first visit. 
  2. Test your technology. You will be prompted to test your internet connection, video, webcam, microphone and the microphone’s speaker capabilities.
  3. Select one of our available Emergency Department physicians. You will see a list of all the doctors who are currently online, and can read their biographies. After you click the “Get Started” button, you will be asked to answer a couple of questions, and you may receive a call from our registration team. Your selected doctor will be with you shortly.

You can also start a Digital Urgent Care visit right from your phone or tablet by downloading the NYP App, and pressing “NYP OnDemand.”

Where can I use this service?

If you would like to use Adult Urgent Care, we can serve you if you are currently in New York State. Additionally, if you are currently in New Jersey, Connecticut, or Florida, you will be able to use this service if a Weill Cornell Emergency Medicine physician who is licensed to practice in your state is available.

If you would like to use Pediatric Urgent Care, we can serve you if you and your child are currently in New York State.

Note that we are also continuing to expanding our services to other states.

When can I use this service?

If you would like to use Adult Urgent Care, our hours of operation are from 8:00am to 12:00am (midnight), every day of the week.

If you would like to use Pediatric Urgent Care, our hours of operation are from 6pm to 12am (midnight), every day of the week.

Can I use this service if I have never visited NewYork-Presbyterian before?

Yes. You may also use Pediatric Urgent Care if you and your child have not visited NewYork-Presbyterian previously.

Can I use this service for my child?

Yes. We now offer Pediatric Urgent Care. We will serve all patients under 18, including newborn patients.

If you are 18 years or older, please use Adult Urgent Care.

When is it not appropriate to use this service?

How much does this service cost?

We are offering this service for $99.

Will my insurance cover this visit?

Depending on your insurance coverage, you may be able to submit a claim to your insurance, and be reimbursed for this service. Please check with your insurance carrier to determine if your plan offers this as a covered benefit.

Additionally, we accept all Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Spending Account (HSA) cards.

Can my child or I get a prescription?

Yes, if medically appropriate. Like an in-person appointment, the prescription will be delivered to the pharmacy of your choice, and sent on the same day.

What equipment and devices do I need?

In order to use this service, you will need:

  • A webcam and a microphone
  • Broadband internet, with a minimum bandwidth of 1 Mb/s
  • Google Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer
  • Windows 7, 8, or 10, or Mac OX 10.6 or later
  • Adobe Flash Plug In 10.1 or later

Can I schedule an appointment with NYP OnDemand Urgent Care?

Currently, we do not schedule digital urgent care visits. Instead, please use this service when you need our help.
