Scholarship Application Criteria And Instructions 2014-2015 Academic Year

The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Dietetic Internship Program is committed to the recognition of dietetic students who have excelled in the areas of academics, community service and extra-curricular activities. We realize that the escalating cost of a dietetic internship program can be prohibitive to many fine students. Our scholarship program enables worthy students to attend our dietetic internship, and their professional achievements build and strengthen our internship program.

Scholarship Award: $5,000.00

Criteria:

Applicants must:

  • Meet the criteria for the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Dietetic Internship Program – due to the competitive nature of the application selection process, prospective applicants with a GPA in Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) courses of less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale are not encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrate or show promise of being a valuable contributing member of the profession through documentation of related work/voluntary experience, professional contribution and honors, academic or work recommendations.
  • Demonstrate need for financial assistance.
  • Provide a convincing and grammatically correct scholarship statement.
  • Be a US citizen or permanent resident.
  • Provide a complete and professionally presented application packet.

Time to Apply: In advance of application to the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Dietetic Internship Program. Requests for 2014-2015 scholarship applications will be honored between September 1, 2013 and December 1, 2013.

Eligibility information and the application form are also available on the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Dietetic Internship website at www.nyp.org/nutrition.

Because of the time required for processing, no scholarship application forms will be mailed from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital after December 1, 2013. After this date, scholarship applications will only be available from the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Dietetic Internship website.

The scholarship application with all required information (original and one complete copy) must be mailed in one envelope. The application will not be accepted via electronic or facsimile transmission.

Completed scholarship applications must be postmarked no later than January 1, 2014.

Scholarship Application Review and Awards Process

Scholarship Committee members review all applications and select recipients who best qualify for the scholarship based upon objective criteria as noted on the application form.

Applicants are notified of the outcome of scholarship selection by February 1, 2014.

Notification of status will be sent to all applicants by E-mail to the E-mail address designated by the applicant.

Those to be awarded will receive the scholarship pending matriculation into the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Dietetic Internship Program.

Note:

  • The application form changes annually; applicants must use the 2014-2015 application form.
  • Do not submit additional materials; a resume is not necessary.
  • Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
  • No application materials will be returned.
