NEW YORK (Apr 16, 2008)
Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to New York City begins on Friday, April 18. Some street closures are expected, as well as disruptions to subway and bus services. This may affect travel time to all of NewYork-Presbyterian buildings and facilities in Manhattan. Delays are most likely when traveling to buildings on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, including NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. The Pope has scheduled several visits in this area on Friday afternoon.
Please plan for extra travel time on Friday. Buses and subways should be the best way to travel, even though there may be interruptions. When the Pope is in the area, the 68th Street subway station may close and buses may not be permitted to make their normal stop at 68th Street. To avoid delays, you may want to exit at nearby stops.
