Alcides Moreno, Survivor of 47-Story Fall, Discharged From NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center
NEW YORK (Jan 18, 2008)
Alcides Moreno, 37, who was critically injured after falling 47 stories from a high-rise apartment building in New York City on Dec. 7, was discharged today from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition. Mr. Moreno will be transferred to an undisclosed rehabilitation facility for further acute rehabilitation.
Mr. Moreno, who sustained injuries to his brain, spinal column, chest and ribs as well as multiple fractures, was treated in the surgical intensive care unit at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell where he underwent 16 operations during his recovery. His medical care was provided by a multidisciplinary team from trauma surgery, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, neurological surgery, orthopedic surgery, rehabilitation medicine, plastic surgery and neurology.
Physicians, nurses and hospital staff wish Mr. Moreno, his wife and family all the best during his continued recovery.
