Agreement Promises to Improve Continuity of Patient Care and Streamline Operations for Health Care Providers and Staff

NEW YORK (Nov 15, 2011)

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Medical Center have entered into a strategic collaboration to manage the electronic health record (EHR) system for ColumbiaDoctors, the Columbia faculty practice organization and one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the Northeast.

ColumbiaDoctors' EHR system-Allscripts Enterprise EHR-is installed in 150 of its outpatient practices, with more than 1,000 Columbia physicians and their staff actively using it.

The joint initiative, which commenced in September 2011, is led by Aurelia G. Boyer, chief information officer for NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and Dr. Peter Stetson, chief medical informatics officer for Columbia University Medical Center.

"The Hospital and the University will continue to work together to integrate our electronic systems and those of our vendors to create a single platform that shares vital health information in a timely and secure fashion. This agreement represents a continuation of this successful collaboration," says Dr. Stetson.

"This initiative is designed to create and maintain the highest quality and most seamless user experience for both patients and providers, helping facilitate coordination across the continuum of care," adds Ms. Boyer.
