Dec 29, 2008
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is the top academic medical center in the nation for employee engagement — including job satisfaction, concern for patient care and effective communication — according to a new survey by HR Solutions Inc., a Chicago-based consulting firm.
NewYork-Presbyterian has high scores in nine of 10 of the qualifying categories, and ranks among the top 10 percent among academic medical centers, earning "Best of Class" status in three categories:
- Overall Job Satisfaction: NewYork-Presbyterian scored 77 percent, compared with a national average of 67 percent.
- Concern for Patient Care: NewYork-Presbyterian scored 80 percent, compared with a national average of 66 percent.
- Effective Communication: NewYork-Presbyterian scored 69 percent, compared with a national average of 58 percent.
"Our employees are directly responsible for making this Hospital a success. I am tremendously proud of their dedication, especially their continual ability to go the extra mile for patients and their families," says Dr. Herbert Pardes, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. "This survey confirms that employees that put patients first are also among the most satisfied and rewarded."
HR Solutions' survey of academic medical centers consisted of more than 87,000 respondents from more than 30 organizations.
Earlier this year, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital was ranked as one of the country's top workplaces for information technology (IT) professionals, according to an annual survey by Computerworld magazine. The Hospital was ranked among the top three organizations in New York City, and is the City's only hospital named. The June 30th special issue also listed NewYork-Presbyterian as one of the top two IT workplaces for diversity, and first in the category for the Mid-Atlantic region.
