NEW YORK

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is listed on Becker's Hospital Review's "60 Hospitals With Great Orthopedic Programs." Hospitals are selected for meeting criteria, including clinical excellence, quality of service, outstanding local and national reputations, and a high volume of orthopedic cases.

"Being one of the nation's leading orthopedics programs means a commitment to patients by offering the most advanced treatment options in a caring and supportive environment," says Dr. Louis U. Bigliani, chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and orthopedic surgeon-in-chief at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. "Our orthopedic surgeons are continually innovating new treatments, including less-invasive procedures like arthroscopy for repairing damaged joints, spinal instrumentation for scoliosis and robotic approaches for joint replacement."

NewYork-Presbyterian has been a leader in hip and knee replacement since the surgeries were introduced in the United States in the 1960s. Furthermore, the first successful shoulder arthroplasty system was developed here by the late Dr. Charles S. Neer II. Today, NewYork-Presbyterian's orthopedic surgeons are recognized for their expertise in the latest minimally invasive and bone-preserving hip and knee replacement surgery.

Becker's Hospital Review features up-to-date business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems. To create its list of the 60 Hospitals With Great Orthopedic Programs, the magazine's editorial team solicited recommendations, and every institution included underwent substantial review.

NewYork-Presbyterian is also included on Becker's Hospital Review's "50 Best Hospitals in America."
