CHANEL Beauté Gifts to Be Given to All Women Giving Birth at the Medical Center
May 5, 2004
CHANEL announced today the endowment of a $1.5 million gift to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital to establish the CHANEL Prize for Achievement in Obstetrics and Gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. This is a unique collaboration between one of the world's pre-eminent fashion and beauty houses and a renowned academic medical center.
The award will recognize NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell physicians and scientists for outstanding achievement in obstetrics and gynecology and will make possible a special gift of cosmetic and skin care products to all women who give birth at the Medical Center.
Patients will also be provided with a CHANEL-sponsored brochure that will include information on medical and infant care. Each year, approximately 6,000 babies are born at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell.
We are sincerely grateful to Arie L. Kopelman and CHANEL for their generosity and support of women's health care, says Dr. Herbert Pardes, President and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. By recognizing exemplary clinical care and research advances, they will help continue to fulfill our mission of providing the highest quality health care to all of our patients.
We are so pleased to pledge our support for innovation and excellence in women's health. This is a top priority program for our company, says Arie L. Kopelman, President of CHANEL. We join NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in celebrating the miracle of birth.
Recipients of the CHANEL Prize for Achievement in Obstetrics and Gynecology will be selected by a committee overseen by the Department Chairman, and will include a representative from CHANEL and other leading figures in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
The prize will be awarded at a public lecture/luncheon scheduled for later this year, where recipients will deliver presentations on their clinical and research work.
The CHANEL prize recognizes the special qualities in our patients, our physicians, and our scientists, says Dr. Frank Chervenak, Obstetrician and Gynecologist-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medical College. With their support, we can continue our commitment to excellence in clinical care, education, and the empowerment of our patients.
