At the Pulmonary Hypertension Comprehensive Care Center, we treat idiopathic (primary) pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary hypertension associated with a variety of conditions, including:
New treatments — including prostanoids (epoprostenol, treprostinil, iloprost), endothelin receptor antagonists (ambrisentan, bosentan), and phosphodiesterase 5-inhibitors (sildenafil) — have dramatically improved quality of life and long-term outcome for people living with pulmonary hypertension. We'll choose the medication(s) that we feel will best help your child.
We have extensive experience using ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) to treat children with pulmonary hypertension. ECMO is a machine that functions as an artificial lung to support a child's own failing lungs. The ECMO circuit pumps the child's blood through a special device that allows for the delivery of oxygen and removal of carbon dioxide.
