The Pediatric Neurosurgery Program at NewYork-Presbyterian/Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children's Health at Weill Cornell Medical Center is nationally recognized for its leadership in the surgical treatment of complex as well as common neurological conditions.
Our team uses a multidisciplinary approach to customize a plan of care for each child, taking into account not only the disease, but also its lifetime implications. Team members include pediatric neurosurgeons, child neurologists, interventional neuroradiologists, and pediatric intensivists, who collaborate to design the most effective treatment. There is also collaboration between the adult and pediatric neurosurgery programs at NYP/Weill Cornell, with a sharing of resources that is rare in even the most notable children's hospitals.
Our neurosurgeons take a minimally invasive approach whenever possible and are experts in the use of endoscopic intracranial surgery. Their shared goal is to offer children and adolescents undergoing who need neurosurgery the best opportunity to enjoy a normal transition from childhood to adulthood.
At the Komansky Center, we specialize in the treatment of the following disorders in young patients:
We take a family-centered approach to care, which ensures that parents are always actively involved in their child's care.
