The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery provides highly specialized cardiology and cardiac surgery care for adults with congenital heart disease whose needs require the special expertise of physicians who are trained in both pediatric and adult heart disease and their treatment. Today, adults who were born with heart disorders are forming a rapidly growing population due to successful cardiac surgery in infants and children during the 1960s and 1970s. Some surviving adult patients have congenital cardiac problems that have been recently diagnosed; others have been treated for their heart condition since infancy or childhood.
Our physicians – including diagnostic specialists, cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and experts in interventional cardiac catheterization – are highly specialized in the treatment of all forms of adult congenital heart disease.
