NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital has one of the largest and most experienced maternal-fetal medicine teams in the country. The Carmen and John Thain Center for Prenatal Pediatrics at NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital and the Fetal Care Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine offer comprehensive, multidisciplinary prenatal diagnosis and therapy. Our teams coordinate consultations with the pediatric subspecialists your baby may need.
- A Team Approach: If we suspect a heart defect in your baby before birth ("in utero"), we'll bring together a team of high-risk obstetricians, neonatologists (newborn care specialists), fetal cardiology specialists, pediatric congenital heart surgeons, and other heart specialists. We'll precisely diagnose the abnormality, develop a plan to monitor your baby, and prepare for surgery if necessary and other care needed when your baby is born.
- Exceptional Fetal Echocardiography: We offer state-of-the-art fetal and three-dimensional echocardiography, enabling us to see and monitor your baby's heart with precision.
- Fetal Therapy: If fetal therapy is possible (treating the baby while it is still in the womb), such as for heart arrhythmias, we collaborate with pediatric cardiologists to maximize our ability to improve the health of the baby while avoiding complications in the mother.
