Support Groups

NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital offers on-site support groups and education lectures throughout the year. Please check our website calendar for specific dates, times and locations, or call 914-734-3576 for more information.

 

Bariatric Support Group

Need help in making a decision about bariatric surgery? Would you like to hear from patients who are succeeding after surgery? Consider joining the hospital’s Bariatric Support Group, held on the second Wednesday of each month and facilitated by Ashley Fleischhauer, RN, BSN, and Coordinator of the hospital’s Bariatric Program, which achieved national accreditation. Post-surgery nutrition is also discussed, to maximize recovery and success. Pre-registration is required.

Breastfeeding Support Group

This is open to moms and expecting moms who would like to learn more about breastfeeding in a supportive environment. There is also the opportunity to share information with other new mothers.

Breast Cancer Support Group

Join a group of women who have also heard the words “you have breast cancer” and discuss issues pertaining to all stages of diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment. This program is facilitated by Support Connection, Inc.

Cancer Support Group For Latina Women

Latina women who have been diagnosed with cancer are invited to join a bilingual support group at the hospital, facilitated by Claudia Rivas, LMSW. The group will meet in the hospital’s Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center Conference Room on the first and third Fridays of the month, from 12:00-1:30 p.m., at 1978 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor. Pre-registration is required.

Living With Cancer Support Group

Gilda’s Club of Westchester facilitates this support group at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital’s Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Cancer Center. This group is for men and women, newly diagnosed with cancer. The group will provide emotional support as a complement to medical care.

Living With Loss Support Group

This group is facilitated by the Coordinator of the hospital’s Chaplain Program, it is nonreligious and focused on living after the death of a loved one. That loss could be a spouse, child, partner, friend, or anyone close to you. The program is offered twice a month, on the first and third Wednesdays, to provide additional support for those in the grieving process. Pre-registration is required.

Sleep Disorders Support Group

Join us to learn about the common causes of sleep disorders, symptoms and solutions. Please bring your CPAP devices. A licensed respiratory therapist will assist you with any questions about equipment or supply. Held on the first Tuesday of each month, this support group requires pre-registration.
