Support Services

At NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital, we are committed to preventing heart problems in at-risk individuals. These include those with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, overweight, and smokers. We accomplish this by providing support services that help you achieve lifelong heart health, including:

Nutrition Counseling

Good nutrition is important for preventing heart disease and stroke. Healthy eating habits help maintain normal blood pressure, desirable blood cholesterol levels, and healthy body weight. We offer nutritional counseling provided by Registered Dieticians, nutritional experts who are nationally accredited and have completed extensive education in the scientific principles of nutrition and heart disease management.

Harvest For Health

At NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital, our goal is to incorporate nutrition education into the care plan for every patient that we treat and to discharge our patients with information about why their diet is so essential to their health. The hospital's Harvest For Health program includes an organic garden on the hospital campus, a locally sourced food service for patients, and cooking classes at our Chef Peter X. Kelly Teaching Kitchen.

Cooking For Heart Health

Each month cooking classes at the hospital's Teaching Kitchen range from general cooking instruction to specific curriculums designed for supporting heart health, diabetes management, and cancer care.

Healthy Heart Program

This program consists of four virtual cooking classes. Cardiology patients and other community residents learn about healthy eating and exercise from our chef, a cardiologist, and a registered dietitian.
