A Leading Center for Stroke Care

When it comes to the treatment of stroke, "time is brain." The faster a patient receives treatment, the better the chance of a good outcome. Our hospital is a New York State-certified Stroke Center, in recognition of our ability to diagnose and treat strokes quickly. We use the latest technologies to diagnose and treat strokes accurately and effectively, including specialized monitoring, medical therapies, and minimally invasive endovascular treatments to remove stroke-causing clots.

A Range of Therapies

Our doctors tailor your treatment to your specific condition and needs. Endovascular, microsurgical, open surgical, and interventional neuroradiology techniques we use to treat cerebrovascular diseases include:

  • Mechanical thrombectomy (removal of blood clots causing stroke)
  • Microsurgical and endovascular therapies for brain aneurysms
  • Endovascular and microsurgical treatments and radiosurgery for AVMs and fistulae
  • Carotid endarterectomy (removal of blockages in the arteries supplying blood to the brain) and insertion of a stent to prevent stroke
  • Tumor embolization (closing off blood supply to a tumor)
  • Balloon test occlusion (blocking an artery to see if it can be safely sacrificed during brain tumor surgery)
  • Embolization for epistaxis (closing off the blood supply to affected vessels responsible for chronic nosebleeds)
  • Craniotomy (open surgery) for bleeding in the brain (intracerebral hemorrhage)
  • Spinal surgery to repair arteriovenous abnormalities which cannot be treated by endovascular means
