The Critical Limb Ischemia Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian/The Allen Hospital is a dedicated center for the management of patients with peripheral vascular disease (PVD). This innovative Center employs medical management with state-of-the-art, catheter-based minimally invasive procedures, gene therapy, and when necessary, surgical bypass. Comprehensive vascular evaluation can be performed utilizing our noninvasive ICAVL-certified vascular laboratory in conjunction with state state-of of-the art angiographic imaging on an individualized basis. Therapies will be individualized with minimally invasive revascularization techniques utilized whenever feasible.
Led by James McKinsey, MD, Chief of Vascular Surgery and Danielle Bajakian, MD, Director of the Critical Limb Ischemia Center, patient care is supported by a dedicated staff of vascular and endovascular specialists, wound specialists, endocrinologists and cardiologists—all experts in the management of critical limb salvage and severe lower extremity arterial occlusive disease.
Drs. McKinsey and Bajakian are internationally known experts in the treatment of critical leg ischemia with minimally invasive therapy. They also direct local and national trials focused on the treatment of leg ischemia.
Active collaboration and communication with the patient's referring physician facilitate the close follow-up necessary to extend life expectancy in these high-risk patients.
