NewYork-Presbyterian/Allen Hospital is located on the northern tip of Manhattan, at Broadway and 220th Street. We are a community hospital and one of the five centers that comprise NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. We serve northern Manhattan, Riverdale and other communities in the Bronx, and provide services in Spanish to our Spanish-speaking patients and their families. We offer leading care in the intimate setting of a community hospital.
All Allen Hospital physicians are also on the staff of New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical center, one of the nation's major medical centers. In addition, each of these physicians is on faculty of the highly regarded Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
The Geriatrics and Aging Department offers specialized programs to older patients, both at The Allen Hospital and through outreach programs in the community. We provide older patients with the diagnostic services, medical and surgical treatment, and continued support services necessary to preserve optimum health.
The Obstetrics & Gynecology Department treats women with a full range of gynecological conditions. We offer minimally invasive techniques for treatment of many conditions. Additionally, we offer comfortable labor and delivery rooms for natural childbirth, and surgical suites for cesarean section deliveries. After delivery, we provide a family friendly atmosphere that encourages visiting; inpatient teaching sessions on caring for newborns and breastfeeding. We also provide a walk-in breastfeeding clinic for mothers after they are discharged home.
The General Surgery Department treats adults with a broad variety of diseases – from cancer to benign gastrointestinal disorders to traumatic and other emergency conditions. Drawing on the continuous research and innovations achieved at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, we perform a large volume of minimal access operations such as laparoscopic hernia repair, appendectomy, gallbladder surgery, and colon surgery. We also have practices in Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and plastic surgery.
The Family Medicine Department provides comprehensive, primary medical care to adults and children in the Washington Heights and Inwood area. As part of our commitment to providing excellent medical care, Family Medicine has adopted an approach called Community Oriented Primary Care, which involves the assessment of community problems and development of appropriate interventions in conjunction with community members.
