Sustainable Food

Local Sourcing

Select NewYork-Presbyterian sites participate in Baldor’s local produce pledge. Through this commitment our buyers are empowered to substitute commodity items with comparable local alternatives whenever they are available. By shifting our purchases toward local alternatives, we seek to support a stronger regional food system. By sourcing locally the hospital minimizes its environmental impact and ensures that patients are receiving the freshest produce possible.

Farmer's Market

As part of our commitment to promoting health and sustainability within our community New-York Presbyterian has established partnerships with a number of organizations to increase access to fresh locally grown food. By hosting farmers markets at various sites throughout our system, we aim to provide an outlet where community members can purchase sustainably grown food while supporting the local economy.
