NYPgreen Be The Difference

NewYork-Presbyterian is resolved to put patients first in everything we do and we recognize the intrinsic relationship between sustainable practices and ecological health. By adopting environmentally responsible practices in the hospital and the community, it is our goal to create a healthier environment for our patients, their families, and our staff, and improve health outcomes for the communities we serve.

Our Environmental Mission Statement

To achieve this vision, NewYork-Presbyterian's Senior Executive Sustainability Committee (SESC) developed and approved an environmental mission statement to establish a foundation for its sustainability program, NYPgreen, and to formalize an organizational commitment to these core values:

  • Respect – We respect the limited resources available and resolve to be stewards of these resources.
  • Teamwork – Working together to build a sustainable hospital.
  • Excellence – To be a leader in health care sustainable practices.
  • Empathy – Listen and respond to each other, understanding the difficult changes required as we achieve a sustainable environment.
  • Innovation – Develop and implement creative ideas and cutting edge solutions to reduce our environmental footprint.
  • Responsibility – Honoring our past, ensuring our future through sustainable practices. NewYork-Presbyterian is committed to these efforts and aspires to become a model for other health-care providers.

The Senior Executive Sustainability Committee is responsible for the strategic oversight of NYPgreen. Its membership includes senior leaders from Administration, Operations, Nursing, Perioperative Services, Support Services, Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety, Government and Community Affairs.

Sustainability Council

NYPgreen program development is driven by the Sustainability Council, a multi-disciplinary team with representation from all five campuses.
